It is now official! Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole has become the 4th and new judge of The X Factor.
Following Sharon's shock exit from the show recently, producers have been looking for a new judge to replace her and now they have found Sharon's successor.
Cheryl, who is already working with Girls Aloud on their new album, was recommended for the job by Sharon herself and she'll be pleased that Cheryl is the new X Factor judge.
What's more, she'll be working alongside Louis Walsh, who was the former manager of Girls Aloud! Not to forget that Louis was also a judge on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, when Girls Aloud were the winners that year.
Wonder what it will be like for Cheryl to work alongside Louis as well as working with Simon and Dannii!
The new judge said:"I’m so excited to be part of such a great show and although it’s scary joining a huge programme like The X Factor, it’s a massive honour to be following in the footsteps of Sharon Osbourne."
ITV's Controller of Entertainment, John Kaye Cooper said:"Cheryl is not only an amazingly successful, sassy and talented woman but, through her winning Popstars: The Rivals, has been through similar experiences to those hopefuls who want to take the X Factor crown. We're delighted that she has joined the channel that discovered her and look forward to her becoming an important part of the X Factor team."
Cheryl will make her debut as X Factor judge this week at the X Factor auditions in London!
Good luck to Cheryl, the X Factor hopefuls and the rest of the X Factor team!
Sharon Osbourne has left The X Factor and a statement was made by ITV confirming her exit from the show!
This is the official statement released by ITV today.
'Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The X Factor after four fantastic years. ITV thanks her for her immense contribution to the show and for all her humour, compassion and energy.
She has been a tremendous judge and mentor on the programme but we respect her wish to leave and wish her the very best with her future projects.'
So Sharon is no longer with The X Factor but we wish her luck in the future!
Now it looks like that the producers are looking for a new judge to succeed Sharon as a 4th judge seems to be required for the new series starting this year!
Meanwhile, Simon, Dannii and Louis will stay but who will be the judge that will make the panel a four-some? Let's just wait and see.
Good luck to all of this year's hopefuls and the X Factor team!
